Primary source documents now available

The Fleece Library just acquired a new electronic database that is full of very interesting documents.

We now have available (on the Database section of the library web page) a database titled CQ Historic Documents Online.

CQ Historic Documents Online is a collection of primary source documents from 1972-2003; documents such as presidential speeches, Supreme Court decisions, international agreements, US government reports, etc., are included in this collection.

I took a look through the collection randomly and found items such as:
1. Solzhenitsyns' Nobel lecture upon winning his Nobel peace prize August 24, 1972;
2. The death sentence on Salman Rushdie for his Satanic Verses, issued by the Shah of Iran February 14, 1989;
3. The Pope's statement on the errors of the Roman Catholic Church through history, March 12, 2000;
4. The judgment handed down by the UN tribunal related to the 1994 Rwanda genocide, December 3, 2003;
5. President Bush's statement on the 9/11 terrorist attacks, September 11 and 14, 2001;

... and the list goes on!

This database is a good representation of why we are striving to get them... it contains information that our library cannot afford to put on our shelves because of space but that students need access to for research and study.

I hope you will take time to look at the database... try to find something of interest to you! Encourage your students to use this valuable resource as well.
