I don't know where the year has gone! So much has been going on this past year that Thanksgiving has sneaked up on me. But I was reminded that the time is here while reading through a recent issue of Wired Magazine when I found a very interesting micro-view of Thanksgiving dinner worth passing on! You'll never look at your thanksgiving dinner the same way again! http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/magazine/15-11/st_thanksgiving
While surfing the internet for Thanksgiving info, I discovered a very interesting and comprehensive Thanksgiving site, complete with quotes about the holiday, historical facts, even a list of Thanksgiving songs, including one I'd never heard of before but that really tickled my funny bone: Grandma Stuffed the Turkey: Then the Turkey Sure Stuffed Us.
I also learned some interesting Thanksgiving trivia at that same site such as:
1. North Carolina is the #1 turkey producer in the US (61 million/year)
2. Americans eat 525 million pounds of turkey at Thanksgiving
3. The red fleshy growth at the bottom of the turkey's beak is called a "snood"
4. Only male turkeys gobble; females click.
(I just love finding sites like this!)
You can explore Thanksgiving for yourself at that site: http://www.thanksgivingnovember.com/
Click, click and Happy Thanksgiving!
