Lengthy service

Yesterday in our chapel service the college faculty presented Chancellor George Murray with a framed, signed resolution recognizing his almost 40 years in Christian ministry.

Watching the presentation got me to thinking about all the people I work closely with here in the library and/or on our campus who have also served the Lord for many years but who are not getting recognized publicly. And I want to recognize some of them...

**Debby Reichel, our Ministry Resource Department Director. She has never held another job since graduating from our institution back in the 1960's. Debby worked in the MRD and in the library as a student and when she graduated she had every intent to go somewhere else to work in ministry, but God called her to the job she has held ever since then... to make students aware of the tools she has to offer for them to use in their Field Education. She has also taught them how to use those tools.

**Bob Kallgren, the Vice President for Corporate Planning (and my boss now that we no longer have a provost or a chief education officer). Bob is another person who has worked here at CIU just about all of his working career. He is one of those steady people that you love to have around... never seems to get rattled and always seems to be on an even keel. He is very perceptive about a lot of things, and since becoming my boss the poor man has had to learn a lot more about the library and its services than he ever thought he'd want to know! AND if you ever need help in writing an assessment report, Bob is the man to talk to. He has been a great help to me in many ways, but especially in that area. Besides his work here at CIU, Bob is also actively involved in ABHE (Association for Biblical Higher Education). So he has a lot of ministry under his belt.

**Don Jones, the Director of Human Resources, is another person I think deserves recognition for many years of ministry, most of which are here at CIU. He is a wise, gentle man who never seems to get tired of my many HR questions... and I've had a lot of them since becoming Library Director! He is obviously dedicated to his ministry in the HR Department, and is a good example of faithfulness to God for many years now.

All three of these people have been in ministry of some kind for 35-40 years. I know there are others on the CIU campus who have had similar numbers of years in ministry. Maybe I need to hunt down some of the others and give them a few words of recognition, too. But for now, I salute Debby, Bob and Don.
