I have a dream...

My dream for the library has several "layers."

1. That we will have a more-than-adequate computer system incorporating circulation, catalog and periodical check-in, plus other more behind the scenes library tasks.

2. That we will have more space. Preferably a whole new building. My dream library will be several floors high: first floor will be a lounge area, periodicals, children's books, circulation desk, interlibrary loan office and COFFEE SHOP; 2nd floor, reference desk, reference books, computer workstations, classrooms for teaching library-related material to entire classes; 3rd floor would be books and study tables; 4th floor would be University archives, Ministry Resource Department, and Curriculum Materials Center; and the top floor would be offices for library tasks such as administration and cataloging, and work area for processing new materials.

3. That the new building would have plenty of elevators and stairwells for easy access for everyone.

4. That we would find the money to build such a building!

5. That the library will find ways to help not only current students and faculty, but also alumni and local pastors.

I have other dreams, too, but these are the big ones. And I am so thankful to see ways in which some of these dreams are coming to pass. Lord willing, we'll have dream number one come to pass by the end of the summer, 2007... a new computer system.
