The Waiting Game

Our catalog has been successfully merged with the catalogs of the other members of our shared server consortium and we are actually using our new system to catalog items now. How exciting! It seems hard to believe we are almost to the final step of going live for the public catalog and circulation. There have been lots of hours put into planning and preparation, and we can hardly wait for February 25 to arrive.

Our "Name the System" contest has ended but the winner is not going to become public knowledge until the week of February 25. The day we go live with the WebPAC and Circulation systems we will have a big celebration and declare the winner!

We received about 80 entries, some of which are really good. That 8 GB flash drive will be placed in the hands of some very deserving person... a very creative person, I might add! Some students have been introduced to the new catalog in classes where Stephanie, our information literacy teacher, has done presentations. The Library Committee will get their first glimpses of the system today at our Library Committee meeting, and we hope to introduce the system to the faculty at a faculty meeting soon.

But for now, "mum" is the word on the winner, so we are just playing "The Waiting Game."
