One of the hardest things for me to do in the course of my job is to order all these good books and DVDs and not have time to read or watch them all! Once in a while I get to look more closely at something, but generally speaking I am surrounded by good information sources and never have time to really enjoy them.
Like the new DVD we just received titled "Robber of the Cruel Streets: the prayerful life of George Muller." I plan to watch it before anyone else, just because George Muller is a Christian hero of mine.
An interesting new book we processed recently is the Africa Bible Commentary. It seems like the kind of book a person interested in or planning on missions to Africa should read through. It is a devotional-type commentary written by and for Africans, and has some interesting insights into the African mindset While I have never been to Africa, my overseas missionary experience makes me appreciate the power of such opportunities as this book to help me understand the cultural implications of scriptures that I might never otherwise see from any perspective other than my own.
And that, in my opinion, is a great part of the value of our library to our patrons.
