iCranky

Don't you just love that title? It's not original... I read an interesting article by that title today by a professor in a large university and had to laugh, because there have been times when I felt the same way.

This professor says he is "cranky" because technology seems to be taking precedence over many other aspects of teaching and learning these days. He doesn't want assessment of his teaching and/knowledge to be judged only by his use of or mastery of technology. That's a bit of an oversimplification of what he says, but that's the general drift of his article.

I can relate to that. Some days I just feel "cranky." I seem to be spending a lot of my time trying to learn about RSS, wikis, and social networking and how to put it to use in the Fleece Library. I just want to be a "librarian." I want to organize information and find ways to help our patrons find that information.

Hey, wait... that's just what these new methods can do. Let me get back to my online course on "Social Networking and the Library."
